Follow up and do your homework when it comes to checking up on potential contractors!
- Get all job details (job specifications) in writing and signed. Make sure you both have a clear understanding of the agreement.
- Know when the job starts and when it should be completed.
- Ask for a copy of Insurance for Liability and workmen comp.
- Read contractor’s profile.
- Set a payment schedule.
- Get a list of past customers and contact them.
- Ask for brand of products, paint and grade to be used.

- Call ASAP, schedule appointment and arrive on time. Curtsey call letting customer know if they are running late or if it is necessary to reschedule due to some unforeseen circumstance.
- Respectful of customers requirements, listens carefully to desired outcome of painting project and solves homeowners needs.
- Calculates the project, taking the time not to miss anything. Plan the job and present the price in writing and go over the work that is needed to be done with the homeowner.
- Schedule starting date, have workers go over the project with homeowner covering all that is on the worksheet and expected finish date.
- If unexpected work is found or needed with the substrates or questions with the materials or color occur stop and get change order written and signed by both parties.
- Final walk through with the homeowner, if something is found schedule and complete work as needed until customer is satisfied.
